Twins designate Woods Richardson, recall Klein from Triple-A

PITTSBURGH -- The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher from Triple-A St. Paul.

Klein, who will be in his second stint with the Twins, recently appeared in four games for the Saints, allowing five runs in 12.1 innings pitched (3.65 ERA), with six hits, five walks, 16 strikeouts, a 0.89 WHIP and a .143 opponent batting average in four games (3 starts). During his first stint with the Twins, the right-hander went 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA (2.1 IP, 2 ER) with one walk and one strikeout. The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota native made his major league debut on May 2 vs. Toronto, pitching 1.0 scoreless inning.

To make room for Klein on the 26-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher for release or assignment. Woods Richardson appeared in 12 games (10 starts) for the Twins this season, going 0-7 with a 7.74 ERA (47.2 IP, 41 ER), 25 walks, 26 strikeouts and a .330 opponent batting average.
