Much of the spotlight Tuesday will be centered on Giancarlo Stanton, currently baseball's hottest hitter. The Marlins slugger established a new franchise record Monday with his 43rd home run of the season and enters Tuesday's matchup against Madison Bumgarner and the Giants having homered in five consecutive games.
That's just one of several intriguing contests on tap as part of the day's full 15-game slate, including a Subway Series bout between Jacob deGrom and Sonny Gray and the Cardinals' first trip to Fenway Park since the 2013 World Series.

Bumgarner looks to slow streaking Stanton: SF@MIA, 7:10 p.m.
Bumgarner draws a tough assignment Tuesday as the next pitcher vying to slow a red-hot Stanton. Stanton has homered 22 times in his last 34 games, including in five straight, and already has 10 homers in August.
"It's been an amazing little run, that's for sure," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "You always like to be around when guys are doing special things, and seeing things like that."
Bumgarner, however, has been stingy with the long ball of late. He's served up just one home run in his last 26 innings.

Subway Series continues: NYM@NYY, 7:05 p.m.
The second game in this week's Subway Series features a high-profile pitching matchup befitting a highly anticipated crosstown rivalry.
Gray is slated to make his Yankee Stadium debut on Tuesday, wearing pinstripes in his new home ballpark for the first time since joining the club at the non-waiver Trade Deadline. For the Mets, deGrom will start. The right-hander has gone 4-2 with a 2.01 ERA since the All-Star break.
"In this town, in this market, these are big games," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "These fans are very, very passionate here in New York. They love their teams, and they want to win."

Cardinals return to Fenway: STL@BOS, 4:10 p.m.
For the first time since their 2013 World Series defeat, the Cardinals will visit Boston's Fenway Park for a two-game series beginning Tuesday. While they don't often meet in the regular season, these Interleague foes have clashed in four World Series -- Cardinals' wins in 1946 and '67 and Boston's 2004 and '13 championships.
"I played a lot of games there as a player," said St. Louis skipper Mike Matheny. "Unfortunately, I have some bad memories from the postseason as a player and as a manager, but no better time to change that than now."

Both clubs enter the series on a high note. The Cardinals have won eight of their last 10 to close within 1 1/2 games of the Cubs in the National League Central, and the Red Sox have won 10 of 12, maintaining their lead over the Yankees in the American League East.
