Piscotty loses ball in sun, makes no-look grab

Had it all the way ... right, ?

Even the A's right fielder had to be wondering how Buster Posey's line drive landed in his glove to end the bottom of the first inning against the Giants on Saturday at the Coliseum.

Posey roped a liner off A's starter Chris Bassitt to right field. Battling the sun while wearing shades, Piscotty put his hand up to try to block the light. At the last second, he turned his head to the right -- perhaps sensing he was about to be hit by the ball -- and stuck out his glove and ... voila! The final out of the inning.

"I think he was throwing his hands up to say, 'I can't see it,'" A's manager Bob Melvin said after the A's 10-5 loss. "I don't know. Once he lost it, I don't know how it ended up in his glove. It's a unique play."

Bassitt appeared to be the most amazed.

"We got a good laugh out of it," he said. "Everyone in the world knows he didn't see the ball. It was kind of cool."
