NEW YORK -- The Nationals received good news Friday afternoon. Right-hander , who is on the disabled list with right elbow soreness, threw a bullpen session without any problems.
Strasburg is expected to have another session in two days. If things go well, Strasburg could be activated sometime next week.
"Once his time on the disabled list is done, he can join us," general manager Mike Rizzo said.
Worth noting
Infielder (vertigo-like symptoms) has been on a rehab assignment with Class A Advanced Potomac since Thursday. In his first game, he went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and two walks.
"He is going to continue to play. Hopefully, he will come through this [vertigo] and is ready to join us," Rizzo said. "He has to play pain free and symptom free. He is, so far. We are going to take it game by game. We'll see how he feels, not only as he is playing, but after the game and the next day to see where he is at."
Drew has been arguably Washington's best player off the bench, going 6-for-20 (.300) with three home runs and six RBIs as a pinch-hitter. Overall, Drew is hitting .262 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs, though he hasn't played a Major League game since late July.
