Clarke to injured list; Cron returns to D-backs

LOS ANGELES -- D-backs right-hander Taylor Clarke was placed on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his back on Wednesday, and the team recalled first baseman Kevin Cron from Triple-A Reno to take his spot on the roster.

Clarke allowed three runs over 3 2/3 innings against the Dodgers on Tuesday night, and Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Clarke experienced a little tightness during the game.

Clarke, who is 2-3 with a 6.21 ERA in 10 games (nine starts) said he will undergo an MRI exam, but the team did not seem to believe the injury would keep him out for a prolonged period of time.

“It was one of those things where I felt like pitching through it a little bit and we were just trying to stay on top of it,” Clarke said. “[Tuesday] night, it flared back up and that’s when it kind of -- I felt pretty limited with how I could move mechanically and get down the mound.”

Cron was up with the D-backs last month and hit .213/.269/.553 in 52 plate appearances.
