LAS VEGAS -- Lost amidst Matt Harvey's brashness, David Wright's health and so many other issues up and down the Mets' roster is the simple story of manager Terry Collins. Often referred to as a baseball lifer, Collins' four decades in the game culminated in a career highlight last October: his first World Series appearance.
"It was the greatest thrill I ever had," Collins said during a video interview last month. "I've been a baseball fan my whole life, and I couldn't wait to have a chance to be in the postseason. Then to ultimately get to the World Series, which everybody who's ever been in baseball, ever played Little League, it's a place they want to play. It certainly was well worth all the effort, all the work and all the years. It was very exciting."
