The most successful franchise in sports history will be chronicled like never before in an upcoming documentary.
ESPN Films announced on Wednesday a new series titled "The Yankees Win," an eight-part documentary covering every important aspect of the 27-time World Series champions.
The multi-part documentary, produced in partnership with Major League Baseball, takes fans behind the scenes and into the clubhouse while covering the Yankees from every angle -- the titles, the drama, the rivalries and, of course, the starpower. It features never-before-seen footage, as well as interviews with players, managers, coaches, executives, writers, commentators and fans.
Specific details on the documentary will be announced at a later date.
The series is directed by Emmy and Peabody winner Jonathan Hock ("Survive and Advance," "The Best That Never Was," "Of Miracles and Men"). In addition to ESPN Films serving as the executive producer in association with MLB, the project is also being produced by Words + Pictures, Hock Films, Bad Robot and Zipper Bros Films.
