Green still hurting, but Tigers hope he'll avoid DL

August 10th, 2016

SEATTLE -- Tigers reliever has been dealing with a posterior oblique injury that has kept him out of games since his last outing, but Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said the team has been working through the situation to prevent having to put Greene on the disabled list. The right-hander remains day to day.
Ausmus mentioned the situation when asked why Greene was not available to pitch in Tuesday night's 6-5 loss to the Mariners, which went 15 innings.
Greene last pitched on Saturday vs. the Mets, when he threw a scoreless inning, giving up one hit. He has posted a 1.93 ERA with 15 strikeouts over his last 15 games and has allowed only two runs in his last 11 games (10 1/3 innings).
