Tigers Host Giants in Three-Game Interleague Series

Highlights include July 4 Armed Forces and Veterans Recognition Day and Patriotic t-shirt giveaway; special ticket offers

DETROIT - The Tigers finish up their nine-game homestand with three games against the San Francisco Giants July 3-6. The series begins on Tuesday, July 4 at 1:10 p.m., followed by Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. and Thursday at 1:10 p.m.

Tuesday, July 4 vs. San Francisco Giants at 1:10 p.m. Gates Open at 11:30 a.m.

  • Armed Forces and Veterans Recognition Day: The Detroit Tigers celebrate the dedication and sacrifice of current and former members of the Armed Forces. The Tigers will donate 1,000 tickets to local members of the Armed Forces and Veterans along with their families to attend the game when the Tigers take on the San Francisco Giants. Members of the Armed Forces and Veterans will be invited to the field to be recognized for their service to the United States Armed Forces prior to the National Anthem. James Smith, Disabled American Veterans, Detroit Regional Office representing all Veterans and Major General David Bassett, from the U.S Army representing all active service members will each throw a ceremonial first pitch. Sgt. Mario Jimenez will perform the national anthem and "God Bless America". The U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard will present the colors during the national anthem. Four A-10 Thunderbolt "Warthog" fighter jets will provide a flyover.
  • The first 10,000 fans entering the stadium that are at least 21 years of age will now receive a Detroit Tigers Patriotic T-Shirt instead of a Patriotic Hat, courtesy of Miller Lite.

  • Fox Sports Detroit broadcaster Mario Impemba continues to thank the men and women of the United States Armed Forces with the MVP (Military Veterans Program) -- Mario Impemba's salute to those who served. Through the program, Mario invites those who served and the families impacted by the service of a loved one in support of our nation to attend Monday home games at Comerica Park. This year, groups of 20 Veterans (of all eras) and families will be treated to a Detroit Tigers game in a luxury suite, receive ballpark fare catering, a "MVP" t-shirt, an autographed photo of Tigers broadcaster Mario Impemba, and complimentary transportation to and from the ballpark. Additionally, the guests will have the opportunity to participate in a private meet-and-greet with Impemba in the suite.
