White Sox activate Anderson, recall Fulmer

Cordell optioned to Triple-A Charlotte

CHICAGO -- Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. the New York Mets at Guaranteed Rate Field, the White Sox returned shortstop Tim Anderson from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list, recalled right-handed pitcher from Charlotte and optioned outfielder to Charlotte. Fulmer takes the roster spot of right-hander , who was optioned to the Knights following Sunday’s game vs. Minnesota.

Anderson, 26, has been on the injured list since June 26 with a high right ankle sprain. Anderson, who suffered the injury on June 25 at Boston, appeared in five rehab games with Charlotte, going 8-23 (.348) with one home run, four RBI and three runs scored. He is batting .317 (86-271) with 14 doubles, 11 homers, 37 RBI, 39 runs scored, 15 steals and a .491 slugging percentage over 70 games this season. Entering play on Tuesday, Anderson's .317 average would rank fourth in the American League with the required plate appearances.

Fulmer, 25, is 1-1 with a 6.32 ERA (11 ER/15.2 IP) and 18 strikeouts in 12 appearances (one start) over four stints with the White Sox this season. He has gone 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA (16 ER/32.0 IP), one save and 49 strikeouts in 22 relief appearances with the Knights in 2019.

Cordell, 27, is batting .234 (41-175) with six doubles, five home runs, 18 RBI and 15 runs scored over 69 games with Chicago this season.
