Anderson pulled after not running out line drive

CHICAGO --  was removed from Tuesday's game against the Royals at Guaranteed Rate Field in the seventh inning after not running out what was ruled a no-catch line drive to third with runners on first and second and two outs in the sixth.
In fairness to Anderson, who has always been a hard-nosed player for the White Sox, the ball looked to be caught by , but third-base umpire Lance Barksdale ruled the other way. Herrera threw to Whit Merrifield covering second, but beat the throw and the attempted force. The White Sox would have had the bases loaded and two outs, but Anderson was easily thrown out at first.
White Sox manager Rick Renteria was irate in the dugout. He pounded his fists twice on a bench, walked from one end to the other and then made his way into the clubhouse. moved to shortstop to replace Anderson, and Nicky Delmonico took over in left field.
