ST. PETERSBURG -- Travis Shaw celebrated the one-month anniversary of his last home run by hitting another one -- a mammoth blast to right-center that sparked the Red Sox on their way to an 8-2 victory over the Rays on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field.
It was Shaw's eighth homer of the season, and a sign that perhaps he's ready to start doing the type of damage again that he was in April and May. Shaw went 3-for-5 and tied a career high with five RBIs.
"It felt good," said Shaw. "A month or I don't know how long it's been, but to not hit any in June, that doesn't really sit well with me. It feels good to get that one."
Without question, Shaw got all of it. Statcast™ registered Shaw with an exit velocity of 107 mph and projected the ball landed 449 feet way.
Per Statcast™ measurements, only Hanley Ramirez has hit a longer home run by the Red Sox this season.
"It's honestly felt good since we got home last homestand," said Shaw. "I thought I had a decent homestand and I thought I swung the bat well in Texas, too. I just didn't have anything to show for it. Like I said, it feels like it's in a good place."

Perhaps getting a night of rest on Monday -- though he did come in as a late-inning substitute -- helped refresh Shaw.
"I mean, it's always nice to get a night," said Shaw. "I've played a lot. Texas takes a lot out of you. I think everybody was tired leaving there after that day game, 100 degrees. It's good to get a breather every now and then, and I kept my streak alive."
Ah, yes, the streak. Shaw has played in every game this season, and 131 in a row dating back to 2015.
"I think I still have the longest streak since [Dustin Pedroia] in 2010 or 2011," said Shaw. "It means a lot to me, especially for their trust to put me out there every single day, one way or the other. Being able to play every single day this year means a lot."
