BALTIMORE -- The Orioles used a three-run first inning and homers from Manny Machado and Trey Mancini to top the White Sox and take a series win with Saturday's 6-5 victory at Camden Yards.
Backed by a solid six innings from starter Dylan Bundy, the second-place Orioles kept pace in the American League East, remaining a half-game back of the Yankees.
The O's jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning, using a bases-loaded balk charged to White Sox starter Dylan Covey to get things going before Mark Trumbo's RBI single Mancini's RBI double. Machado hit his fourth homer in six games, a solo shot in the second, and Mancini sent Covey's full-count pitch into left field for a two-run homer in the fifth.

"It means a lot to me. I still have to pinch myself sometimes that I'm here and contributing to the team," Mancini said. "That's all I want to do every day when I get to the park is in some way contribute to a win, and just try to do everything right and play as hard as I can."
Covey lasted just four-plus innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits to see his season ERA balloon to 8.28. The 25-year-old, who has five Major League starts, is still searching for his first quality outing. Bundy, meanwhile, held the Sox to three runs in his seventh consecutive quality start.

"For a guy that came out with all the hoopla surrounding him," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said, "I think maybe, in the long run, some of the best things that happened are some of the challenges [Bundy has] gone through that's made him kind of develop into a more complete pitcher."
Jose Abreu hit a two-run homer off of Mychal Givens in the eighth inning that hit the left-field foul pole and brought Chicago to within one.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Boom-Boom's at it again: Mancini gave the Orioles a four-run lead with his blast in the bottom of the fifth inning, which chased Covey from the game. The red-hot O's rookie -- ranked by MLBPipeline.com as the organization's No. 5 prospect -- has six homers and 17 RBIs on the year.

"No matter who's on the mound, it's good to be able to contribute and have a good game and help the team win," said Mancini, who got a rare start with a right-hander on the mound.
The other Dylan: While Bundy thrived, Covey struggled in his fifth attempt to earn his first career win. He was pulled after four-plus innings, tying for his shortest outing of the season. Covey allowed two home runs, pushing his season total to seven.
"I felt like I was making pitches, they were just kind of putting them in the right spots on the field," Covey said. "Felt pretty good overall. Just got to avoid the long ball. It's been my kryptonite."
