Former Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully's "in a year that has been so improbable…" call for Kirk Gibson's dramatic walk-off home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series is about as iconic in Los Angeles as Gibson's dinger itself. So now that the Dodgers have finally captured their first World Series championship since that '88 Fall Classic, who else would chronicle their triumph besides the franchise's famous voice?

Scully will narrate Major League Baseball's official 2020 World Series documentary, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. The man who called Dodgers games for nearly seven decades before retiring after the 2016 season recorded his audio track for the documentary last week.

"It was 32 years since the Dodgers won a World Series and the seventh in the history of the organization, bringing great joy to their fans and the city of Los Angeles in particular," Scully said in a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday. "This is their winning story against the Tampa Bay Rays, and it's an honor for me to recount just how they did it."

The 2020 World Series documentary, produced by MLB Advanced Media in association with Shout Factory, will feature interviews with Dodgers stars Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw and Corey Seager, in addition to Scully's welcomed return to the microphone. The documentary will also feature a behind-the-scenes look at the most unusual postseason in history as it was played out in a bubble due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The 2020 World Series documentary will be available for purchase or download beginning Dec. 8, per The Hollywood Reporter.
