Guerrero Jr. homers in fourth straight game

August 12th, 2018

The way things have been going, it's hard to imagine Blue Jays' No. 1 prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. evoking more excitement and anticipation through his Minor League performance this year than he already has. But that's exactly what's happening.
The No. 1 prospect in baseball, and son of Hall of Fame outfielder Vladimir Guerrero, homered in his fourth consecutive game during Triple-A Buffalo's 6-3 loss to Toledo on Saturday.

In 11 games since his promotion from Double-A New Hampshire, Guerrero is hitting .441 (15-for-34), and that's after slashing .402/.449/.671 with 14 homers in 61 Double-A games. The latest homer -- which came on Superhero night at Coca-Cola Field -- was a solo shot over the right-field wall in the fourth inning, as Guerrero displayed his easy opposite-field power on an outside fastball from left-hander Tyler Alexander.
Should Guerrero launch another homer Sunday, he would become the fifth player in Bisons history to homer in five consecutive games, and the first since 2006.
It's only a matter of time before Guerrero, a 19-year-old third baseman, reaches the Majors. Until then, the anticipation of his arrival only ratchets up by the day, and by every ball he belts over the fence.
