Former Texas outfielder will be honored after Hall of Fame induction

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Rangers will honor outfielder Vladimir Guerrero on Aug. 3-4, during their series with the Orioles. Guerrero is being inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 29.
Guerrero hit .300 with 29 home runs and 115 RBIs for the Rangers and led them to their first American League pennant. He won the Edgar Martinez Designated Hitter Award and the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award by the Sporting News.
Guerrero is the seventh to have played for Texas and been inducted into the Hall of Fame, along with Ivan Rodriguez, Nolan Ryan, Gaylord Perry, Bert Blyleven, Ferguson Jenkins and Rich Gossage.
Guerrero will be honored during pregame ceremonies before the Aug. 4 game against the Orioles. He will also be the guest of honor at the Dr Pepper Hall of Fame luncheon on Aug. 3 at Globe Life Park. He will be joined by Rodriguez and several of his teammates on the Rangers' team that went to the 2010 World Series. In addition, Texas will honor the legacy of another Hall of Famer, the club's first manager Ted Williams, at the event.
Guerrero had a .318 average with 449 homers and 1,496 RBIs in 2,147 games with Montreal (1996-2003), the Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels (2004-09), Texas (2010) and Baltimore (2011). He was a nine-time All-Star and captured eight Silver Slugger Awards while winning the 2004 AL Most Valuable Player Award with the Angels.
Rodriguez optioned to Triple-A
The Rangers have optioned right-handed reliever to Triple-A Round Rock.
Texas will replace him before Friday's game with Minnesota, and the Rangers are expected to activate reliever Chris Martin off the disabled list. Martin has not pitched since June 9 with a strained right calf muscle.
Rodriguez was called up Monday but did not pitch during the three-game series with the Royals. He has pitched 13 1/3 innings over 12 appearances for Round Rock, and he allowed just one unearned run on eight hits and two walks with 12 strikeouts.
Texas Live! to open in August
The Rangers announced that the Texas Live! entertainment complex next to Globe Life Park in Arlington will officially open the weekend of Aug. 9-12.
The joint venture between the Rangers, The Cordish Companies and the city of Arlington is a $250 million world-class dining, entertainment and hospitality district will debut 200,000 square feet of best-in-class local, regional and national dining and entertainment, as well as a 5,000-capacity outdoor event pavilion, Arlington Backyard, upon opening.
Grand Opening festivities for Texas Live! will begin Aug. 9 with national recording artist and Dallas-Fort Worth native, Toadies, performing on the Arlington Backyard stage. The celebration will continue throughout the weekend with live music and entertainment, events and activities for all fans.
