Pipeline Preview: Jimenez looks to stay hot

July 24th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Eloy Jimenez (White Sox No. 2), Winston-Salem vs. Buies Creek (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Jimenez, the No. 8 overall prospect, went 5-for-6 with two doubles and a homer on Sunday, his fourth multihit effort in nine games with the Dash. After fouling a ball off his foot on Friday, Jimenez was listed as day-to-day on Saturday, but Sunday's showing would seem to indicate Jimenez is feeling fine and may be on the verge of a hot streak.

Pitcher to watch: (Mariners' No. 7), Tacoma vs. Sacramento (2:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Gonzales will be making his debut with the Mariners organization after he was traded from the Cardinals on Friday. The 25-year-old lefty was 6-4 with a 2.90 ERA through 11 starts with Triple-A Memphis this season and although he gave up four runs in his latest start, Gonzales had strung together five consecutive quality starts prior to that outing.

Duel of the Day: (White Sox No. 8) vs (Indians' No. 15), Charlotte vs. Columbus (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Fulmer, the No. 58 overall prospect, has a 5.42 ERA through 19 starts this season, but threw the ball well in his last outing, giving up two runs on three hits in six innings. The 23-year-old has struggled recently, but has given up two earned runs or less in 10 of his 19 starts and perhaps his latest outing is a sign of positive things to come.

Morimando has won eight straight decisions and will look to stay hot against Charlotte. The lefty last lost on May 24 and has lowered his ERA from 5.26 to 3.56 in the 10 starts since then. Morimando was stuck with a no-decision in his last outing as he gave up four runs in seven innings.
