Left-hander Will Headean continued his run of strong starts for Class-A Tri-City Wednesday night.
Headean, 22, the Padres' 13th-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, allowed one hit and two walks with four strikeouts over five shutout innings to lead the Dust Devils (8-5) to a 10-1 win over Vancouver in Pasco, Wash.
Headean is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA in three starts for Tri-City after appearing earlier this season in relief for Class-A Fort Wayne. He has allowed 10 hits and two walks with 13 strikeouts in 15 innings with the Dust Devils.
Right fielder Luis Asuncion (.310) was 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored for the Dust Devils. Designated hitter Westhers Magdaleno (.292) was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Second baseman Nate Easley (.293) was 1-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored. Left fielder Josh Magee (.184) had a double in three at-bats with two walks, a RBI and two runs scored. First baseman Kyle Overstreet (.239) was 1-for-2 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored.
Right-hander Mark Zimmerman (2.84 ERA) followed Headean and allowed a run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in two innings. Right-hander Will Stillman (0.00) struck out the side in a perfect inning. Righty Evan Miller (0.00) struck out two in a perfect inning.
