World Series Media Day hypes players, fans

With the hype and anticipation of two 100-win teams meeting in the World Series tonight, and a long drought for one city coming to an end, the Astros and Dodgers appeared in the Fall Classic spotlight for the first time during Monday's World Series Media Day.
The topics covered included the continued thoughts and support of Astros players for the city of Houston, which was hit by Hurricane Harvey in late August. Players from both clubs also talked about the triple-digit temperatures in Los Angeles, which could lead to a 100-degree reading at first pitch.
On the lighter side of the Media Day happenings, Justin Turner talked about a beard showdown between himself and Astros left-hander Dallas Keuchel, and there was reflection from several players reaching the World Series for the first time.

9:35 p.m. ET: Houston Strong
While the World Series was front and center during Media Day, Houston was on the minds of many Astros players as the city continues to recover from Hurricane Harvey. Check out what players had to say about the impact of the hurricane and winning for the fans.

9:22 p.m. ET: Verlander aims to keep rolling in Fall Classic
Justin Verlander, MVP of the American League Championship Series, talked about facing a tough Dodgers lineup and the impact of extra rest in the postseason.

9:14 p.m. ET: Eyes on the prize
The 1988 World Series trophy is always on display at Dodger Stadium and the players pass by it as they walk in and out of the ballpark.

8:52 p.m. ET: Cody's living the dream
Every Little Leaguer dreams of one day playing in the big leagues and making it to the World Series. Dodgers star rookie Cody Bellinger played in both the 2007 Little League World Series and will now play in the Fall Classic. What a ride!

8:28 p.m. ET: Battle of the beards
The World Series will feature a matchup of two of the game's finest beards, those of Justin Turner and Dallas Keuchel. Turner took time to compare the two during today's media session.

8:25 p.m. ET: Puig, A-Rod chatting it up
During the Dodgers' on-field workout, Yasiel Puig talks in the dugout with Alex Rodriguez, who's working as a postseason analyst with FOX.

8:06 p.m. ET: World Series is heating up
Temperatures are expected to be scorching for Game 1. How might that impact the game? The Dodgers' Kiké Hernandez is one player who doesn't mind the heat.

7:05 p.m. ET: Josh sighting
It's been all Dodgers so far at Media Day, but the Astros will get their turn soon and Josh Reddick can't wait.

6:45 p.m. ET: Seager's eager
Corey Seager, who will reportedly be on Los Angeles' postseason roster, has made the postseason in each of his three seasons in the bigs, and now he's got a chance to seal the deal.

John Forsythe has put together a strong showing -- .316 average and six runs scored in 19 at-bats -- in his first taste of postseason baseball.
