NEW YORK -- As Brian Cashman worked the phones in an attempt to upgrade his roster this summer, opposing general managers frequently gauged his willingness to discuss trades involving outfielder Estevan Florial, who garnered plenty of attention in his first full professional season.
Cashman had no problem resisting those overtures, as the Yankees are content to dream on Florial's future. After starring at Class A Charleston and completing his season with Class A Tampa, the speedy left-handed hitter has earned honors from MLBPipeline.com as one of the Yankees' Prospects of the Year.

Florial, who represented the Yanks as a member of the World team at the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, has been named as MLBPipeline's Yankees Player of the Year. For the second consecutive year, right-handed starter Chance Adams was selected as MLBPipeline's Yankees Pitcher of the Year.
"I haven't been in another organization, but for me, this is the best one," Florial said. "Not just because they're the Yankees, but because of the treatment and all of the personalities. They're calling up a lot of young players, so it's amazing."
Ranked as the Yankees' No. 3 prospect (78th overall) by MLBPipeline.com, the 19-year-old Florial batted a combined .298/.372/.479 in 110 games, compiling 23 doubles, seven triples, 13 homers and 57 RBIs. Florial also stole 23 bases in 31 attempts before tasting Double-A ball during the Trenton Thunder postseason.
Tim Naehring, the Yankees' vice president of baseball operations, said that he has been intrigued by Florial's quick progression.
"He's probably one of the higher evaluated players that I've written up in my scouting days," Naehring said. "He still has some work to do on the development side, but when you look at the interesting dynamic of this young man, he has a chance to be an above-average defender that has speed, arm strength, raw power to all parts of the field and intangibles like a sense of urgency with his work ethic that is unparalleled. It's exciting."
Adams, 23, is rated as the Yankees' No. 2 prospect, and their top pitching prospect. Though he did not receive a callup, Adams went a combined 15-5 with a 2.45 ERA in 27 starts between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

In 150 1/3 combined innings, Adams permitted 104 hits and 58 walks, striking out 135. Adams was a fifth-round selection by the Yankees in the 2015 Draft out of Dallas Baptist University, and could get his first taste of the Majors in 2018.
"He's been a winner at every level," Yankees vice president of player development Gary Denbo told the New York Post. "He's definitely an option for us in the starting rotation going forward."
