Puig to start rehab stint Monday at Class A

June 11th, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO -- Yasiel Puig will head to Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga on Monday to begin a rehab assignment, Dodgers manger Dave Roberts said before Friday night's game against the Giants.
The outfielder, returning from a strained left hamstring, will also be looking to shorten his swing to help eliminate some of the strain he exerts.
"When he attacks the ball he gets a little too rotational and it affects his defense and offense," Roberts said. "We're going to try and make the most of it."
Roberts said he expects Puig to rejoin the team the following Monday or Tuesday.
"Obviously when he comes back, he's going to play," Roberts said. "His defense is the most consistent."
Trayce Thompson, the younger brother of the Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson, will likely continue to play. He entered Friday hitting .271 with 10 homers and 22 RBIs.
"We'll keep running Trayce out there," Roberts said. "He's played himself into a situation where he needs to be in every day."
