LOS ANGELES -- Catcher exited in the seventh inning of the Dodgers' 5-4 win in 10 innings over the Royals on Saturday with a left hand contusion.
Backup catcher replaced Grandal, who went back to the Dodgers' clubhouse for X-rays. The results came back negative, according to manager Dave Roberts.
"It was a ball [thrown by starter in the third inning] when was hitting," Roberts said. "It was a two-seamer that ran in and kind of got [Grandal's] thumb. As the game progressed it got a little bit worse."
The Dodgers plan to give Grandal a day off on Sunday. Barnes will start, but Roberts said Grandal will be available if needed for the series finale at 1:10 p.m. PT.
