NEW YORK -- Yoenis Cespedes continues chugging along in All-Star Game voting, according to the latest totals released Wednesday by Major League Baseball, lining him up to start next month's Midsummer Classic in San Diego.
Cespedes has 1,395,577 votes, trailing only Chicago's Dexter Fowler (1,611,833) and Washington's Bryce Harper (1,451,270) in the National League outfield. He is within striking distance of the top outfield vote-getter, but also not far enough above Jason Heyward (993,073) in fourth place to be a shoo-in at this point.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 30, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Vote up to five times in any 24-hour period for a maximum of 35 times.

Cespedes currently rates as the Mets' only realistic shot at a position-player starter. Though Neil Walker ranks third among second basemen, he is more than 1.2 million votes behind the leader, Ben Zobrist. The Cubs have the leading vote-getter at five positions.
Fans do not vote on pitchers, but the Mets figure to have more than one of them on the roster. Noah Syndergaard in particular ranks among the league leaders in ERA, strikeouts and Wins Above Replacement.
