D-backs hit 4 HRs, but Godley, bullpen struggle

March 31st, 2019

LOS ANGELES -- Saturday night’s game got away from the D-backs early, and once it started going bad, they couldn't stem the tide as they fell, 18-5, to the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

D-backs starter Zack Godley seemed to be in good shape through two innings. Even though he allowed a leadoff homer to Joc Pederson to start the game, his command was good and he retired six straight after the blast.

After Austin Barnes blooped a single to left to open the third, Godley made a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Kenta Maeda and the floodgates broke open.

The Dodgers scored four runs in the inning, and they tacked on one in the fifth and five in the sixth before the D-backs brought in catcher John Ryan Murphy to pitch the final two innings. Los Angeles then scored seven runs in the eighth.

Jarrod Dyson, Alex Avila, Adam Jones and David Peralta all homered for Arizona.
