The Oakland A's today placed right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain, optioned left-handed pitcher Daniel Coulombe to Triple-A Nashville, recalled right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs from Nashville, and selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Patrick Schuster from Nashville.
To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, outfielder Andrew Lambo was recalled from Nashville and placed on the 60-day disabled list while recovering from surgery for testicular cancer.
Triggs has appeared in 13 games, including one start, over six previous stints with Oakland. He most recently pitched for the A's on Friday against Pittsburgh, tossing a scoreless inning of relief.
Schuster's first appearance with the A's will mark his Major League debut. After being invited to Oakland's big league camp this spring, the left-hander from New Port Richey, Fla., has spent the entire season in Triple-A Nashville, where he is 1-0 with five saves in 28 games. He has posted a 1.30 ERA while striking out 37 and walking 12. Right-handers are hitting .217 against him while lefties are hitting .193.
Rodriguez was removed from Sunday's game after throwing 11 pitches in one-third of an inning.
