The Oakland A's placed right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder, the club announced today. To take his spot on the roster, the A's selected right-handed pitcher Zach Neal from Triple-A Nashville.

Wahl was recalled from Nashville May 3 and compiled a 4.70 ERA and .258 opponents batting average in seven relief appearances in his Major League debut. He struck out eight batters in 7.2 innings but also walked four. Wahl was 0-1 with three saves and a 1.93 ERA in eight games with the Sounds.

Neal is 1-2 with a 3.89 ERA and .258 opponents batting average in eight games, including four starts, with Nashville. He has walked just four batters in 34.2 innings, an average of 1.04 per nine innings. The 28-year-old right-hander made four consecutive starts from April 13 to May 5, but his last three outings have been in relief (7.1 ip, 7 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 5 so). Neal made his Major League debut with Oakland last year and went 2-4 with two saves and a 4.24 ERA in 24 games, including six starts, over four stints with the A's.
