A's reinstate 3B Chapman from the DL; Option IF Barreto to Nashville

The Oakland A's reinstated third baseman Matt Chapman from the 10-day disabled list today and optioned infielder Franklin Barreto to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.

The Oakland A's reinstated third baseman Matt Chapman from the 10-day disabled list today and optioned infielder Franklin Barreto to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Chapman was batting .250 with 10 home runs and 26 RBI in 69 games when he was placed on the DL June 16 retroactive to June 15 with a right thumb contusion. He went 1-for-4 on a one-game rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton yesterday against Lancaster at third base. The stint on the DL ended Chapman's consecutive games played streak at 149.
Barreto was recalled from Nashville for his third stint with the A's this year when Chapman went on the DL June 16. He started 12 of the A's 15 games (11 at second base, one at shortstop) and hit .239 with three doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI in 13 games total. Overall, Barreto is batting .212 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 18 games with the A's and .236 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 43 games with the Sounds.
