A's to select 4 players on Day 1 of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft

The Athletics hold the 9th overall pick in the first round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft, the 50th overall pick in the second round, the 70th overall pick in Competitive Balance Round B, the 85th overall pick in the 3rd round, and will pick 9th in rounds 4-40 during the final two days of the Draft.

OAKLAND -- The Athletics hold the 9th overall pick in the first round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft, the 50th overall pick in the second round, the 70th overall pick in Competitive Balance Round B, the 85th overall pick in the 3rd round, and will pick 9th in rounds 4-40 during the final two days of the Draft.
Players on the current roster selected by the A's in the first two rounds of the draft include Matt Olson, 1st (47th) in 2012; Matt Chapman, 1st (25th) in 2014; Chad Pinder, 2nd in 2013; Bruce Maxwell, 2nd in 2012; Daniel Gossett, 2nd in 2014 and Trevor Cahill, 2nd in 2006. Other first round picks on the current roster selected by other teams include Stephen Piscotty, 1st (36th) in 2012 by St. Louis; Jed Lowrie, 1st (45th) in 2005 by Boston and Sean Manaea, 1st (34th) in 2013 by Kansas City.
Major League Baseball will hold day one of the 2018 MLB Draft on Monday, June 4th at MLB Network's Studio 42 in Secaucus, New Jersey. This year's Draft will begin live on MLB Network and MLB.com at 7:00 p.m. (ET). Prior to the start of the Draft, MLB Network will air a Draft preview show, also simulcast on MLB.com, at 6:00 p.m. (ET).
Each of the 30 Major League Clubs will be represented at the Draft by one of its former players and/or a member of its front office. The Oakland Athletics will be represented by Hall of Famer, seven-time All-Star and 1981 American League MVP and Cy Young Award winner Rollie Fingers.
The Draft will resume at 1:00 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, June 5th, when selections will be made for rounds 3-10, with one minute intervals between selections. Day three of the Draft on Wednesday, June 6th will begin at 12:00 p.m. (ET), featuring picks in rounds 11-40, with no time delay between selections.
