OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's traded outfielder Trayce Thompson to the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the club announced today. The A's also optioned right-handed pitcher Lou Trivino to Triple-A Nashville.
Thompson was designated for assignment on Tuesday after going 1-for-7 (.143) with four strikeouts in three games with Oakland. He was claimed off waivers by the A's from the New York Yankees on April 5. Thompson was with the Los Angeles Dodgers this spring, was designated for assignment March 27 and claimed off waivers by the Yankees April 3.
Trivino was recalled from Nashville on Tuesday and made his Major League debut that night, tossing 1.0 scoreless innings against the White Sox. He also pitched yesterday and picked up his first ML win after tossing 3.0 scoreless innings in the A's 12-11, 14-inning win over Chicago. The 26-year-old right-hander has a save in three appearances with Nashville and has retired all 13 batters that he has faced, eight by strikeout.
