The Red Sox will bring the warmth and cheer of the holiday season to patients at Boston-area hospitals and children at a baseball training academy with the 2017 Holiday Caravan taking place tomorrow, Thursday, December 14, and Friday, December 15. Over the two-day period, Red Sox players Matt Barnes, Heath Hembree, Brian Johnson, Austin Maddox, Deven Marrero, and Robby Scott will visit with patients at hospitals throughout Boston. Red Sox Manager Alex Cora will join players on Friday to visit with kids at The BASE, a training academy that provides young baseball players with coaching and academic and life skills training.
The Caravan tour begins tomorrow with stops at Boston Children's Hospital, Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The Caravan continues on Friday with visits to Shriners Hospital for Children, MassGeneral Hospital for Children, and a visit to The BASE.
Heath Hembree, Brian Johnson, Austin Maddox, and Robby Scott will be present at all Holiday Caravan stops. Matt Barnes and Deven Marrero will take part in Thursday's visit, and Alex Cora will be present for the Friday's visit to The Base.
A list of dates and times for each Caravan stop is below, along with corresponding media relations contacts for each location. Arrangements to cover the hospital visits must be made in advance with the media relations contact at that hospital. The visit to the Jimmy Fund Clinic is closed to media.
