Angels to begin season at Oakland for fifth time in six seasons

ANAHEIM - Major League Baseball today announced the 2022 regular season schedule. The Angels will begin their 62nd season with an Opening Day game on Thursday, March 31 at Oakland. It will mark the fifth time in six seasons that the Angels will start a season at the Oakland Coliseum and the first time in MLB history that any team begins a season in the same road ballpark at least five times in a six-year span (ELIAS). Additionally, 2022 will be the ninth time the Angels will open a season against the Athletics, which is their second most against any opponent (11 openers vs. Mariners).

Following a six-game opening road trip against the Athletics (March 31 - April 3) and Mariners (April 4-5) and an off day, the Angels will host the Houston Astros in the Home Opener at Angel Stadium on April 7. Overall, the Angels 2022 schedule features 12 total homestands and 12 road trips.

The Angels will play 20 total Interleague games in 2022 and will face all five N.L. East clubs as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers. In Freeway Series action, the Angels will visit Dodger Stadium for two games (June 14-15) and host the Dodgers in a pair of games (July 15-16) to conclude the first half of the season. Additionally, the Angels will host Interleague games against the Miami Marlins (April 11-12), Washington Nationals (May 6-8) and New York Mets (June 10-12). The road Interleague schedule features visits to Philadelphia (June 3-5), Miami (July 5-6) and Atlanta (July 22-24), in the Angels first ever visit to Truist Park.

The home schedule features a pair of 10-day (nine game) homestands, the first of which includes games against the Athletics (May 20-22), Rangers (May 24-25) and Blue Jays (May 26-30). The second nine-game homestand takes place against the Royals (June 20-22), Mariners (June 24-26) and White Sox (June 27-29).

The road schedule features two different three-city trips: July 1-10 (Houston/Miami/Baltimore) and Aug. 19-28 (Detroit/Tampa Bay/Toronto). The Angels will conclude the regular season on Oct. 2 vs. Texas, marking the first time since 2019 finishing the year at Angel Stadium.
