July 6th, 2020

Major League Baseball today announced the new regular season schedule for the 2020 campaign. The Angels will begin their 60th Major League season on Friday, July 24, at Oakland, marking the fourth consecutive year the Angels begin a season in the Oakland Coliseum. The Angels would become the first team all-time to start four straight seasons in the same road ballpark.

Following the four-game Opening Series against the Athletics, the Angels will play their Home Opener on Tuesday, July 28 vs. Seattle, to kick off the six-game homestand (July 28-30 vs. Seattle, July 31-Aug. 2 vs. Houston).

The Angels will play 10 total games against each of their A.L. West opponents: Houston (six home, four road), Oakland (three home, seven road), Seattle (seven home, three road) and Texas (four home, six road). The Angels have two visits to the new Globe Life Field in Texas (Aug. 7-9 and Sept. 8-10) after originally being scheduled to play in the first regular season game at the ballpark on March 31.

The Angels will also play 20 total Interleague games in 2020, including a three-game series at Dodger Stadium to conclude the regular season (Sept. 25-27). That series will represent the latest calendar dates for Freeway Series games (previous was (Sept. 7-9, 2015) and will also mark the first time the Angels finish a season on the road since 2015 (at Texas). The Interleague schedule features games against all five N.L. West teams: Arizona (three home games), Colorado (three road games), Los Angeles Dodgers (three home, three road), San Diego (two home, two road) and San Francisco (two home, two road).

Prior to the start of the regular season, the Angels will play three exhibition games: July 20 at San Diego, July 21 at Los Angeles Dodgers and July 22 vs. San Diego.

Overall, the schedule features five homestands and five road trips. The longest homestand is a nine-game stretch at Angel Stadium across 10 days (Aug. 28-Sept. 6) against Seattle (Aug. 28-31), San Diego (Sept. 2-3) and Houston (Sept. 4-6). The longest road trip (nine games) takes place Aug. 19-27 in San Francisco (Aug. 19-20), Oakland (Aug. 21-23) and Houston (Aug. 24-27).
