The 2018 Houston Astros Caravan presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors begins on Wednesday, January 10. The annual community outreach tour consists of several trips over the course of three days with stops in the Houston area (Jan. 10 - 12), Austin (Jan. 10), San Antonio (Jan. 11), and Corpus Christi (Jan. 11), and culminates with the annual Astros FanFest at Minute Maid Park on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Astros Caravan gives players and broadcasters an opportunity to connect with and thank fans as the team celebrates its 2017 World Championship and gears up for Spring Training and the 2018 season. The fan outreach tour will engage with first responders, stop at several different community centers and visit military facilities, hospitals and local schools. There will also be several opportunities for fans to get free autographs from Astros players at select Academy Sports + Outdoors locations.
Additionally, the World Series Trophy will make appearances at select stops on the tour. The Astros will once again host Caravan Jams throughout the week, which will feature music, inflatables and interaction with players through a public Q&A session.
Astros manager AJ Hinch will join current players and prospects including Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, J.D. Davis, Chris Devenski, James Hoyt, Tony Kemp, Jake Marisnick, Joe Musgrove, Brad Peacock, Brady Rodgers, Max Stassi, Tyler White and Forrest Whitley on the community engagement tour. Astros radio broadcasters Robert Ford and Steve Sparks, TV broadcasters Todd Kalas and Geoff Blum and Astros mascot Orbit will also make appearances throughout the week. Please note that all individuals are subject to change.
Other players may be added to those listed. For more information and complete details, visit www.astros.com/caravan and www.astros.com/fanfest.
