Astros Return Home to Pick Up Momentum in Race for AL West

The Astros, who own the best record in baseball since May 23 at 34-15, return home to cap off a run of 16-straight divisional match-ups. This Friday, Houston faces off against the AL West rival LA Angels of Anaheim (July 22-24), against whom they own a 8-1 record this season. Then on Monday, the Astros host the New York Yankees for a three-game set, July 25-27. The Astros are closing the gap in the AL West, having bottomed out at 11.0 games back as recently as June 20, and now sit 3.5 games back of the division lead. Houston is also within striking distance of an AL Wild Card spot at 2.5 games back. The Astros are 28-19 at home this season, and 24-18 against AL West opponents.

All three of the Astros RBI teams, including the softball, senior baseball and junior baseball teams, advanced to the MLB RBI World Series last weekend during the RBI Southwest Regional Tournament in New Orleans. Big and Bright Friday Night fireworks return postgame, featuring an a cappella musical theme. Fireworks will begin approximately 15 minutes following the conclusion of Friday's game vs. the Angels.<o:p>

Continuing this Friday, the Astros Foundation will be raffling off a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle, donated by Crane Freight Services. Proceeds will benefit the Sunshine Kids Foundation, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance, Ronald McDonald House Houston and the Astros Foundation. Tickets will be sold during every Friday, Saturday and Sunday home game, now through September 11 on the main concourse behind home plate. Tickets are one (1) for $20 or six (6) for $100. The winner will be announced at the game on Monday, September 12 vs. the Texas Rangers (winner need not be present to win).<o:p>

On Saturday, the Houston Astros will recognize the family of Donald and Cynthia "Sissy" Sparacino from Houston during the Occidental Petroleum Military Appreciation in the middle of the 4th inning. Donald and Sissy Sparacino raised a family of 11, with seven of their children having served or currently serving in the United States Army, United Sates Marine Corps and United Sates Air Force.<o:p>

The Astros will host the second of three Astros After Parties, presented by Budweiser. The Astros After Parties will take place in the FiveSeven Grille just beyond Center Field, and will feature drink and appetizer specials starting in the 8th inning with trivia, prizes and live music immediately following the final out. This event is free to fans with a ticket to the game and will last for one hour after the conclusion of the game. The final Astros After Party will take place after the game on August 6.<o:p>
