OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland Athletics General Manager David Forst will be available to the media today, June 2, at 12:00 p.m. to discuss the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Those interested in speaking with Forst can meet in the Peralta Interview Room at the Oakland Coliseum.
Director of Scouting Eric Kubota will be available to the media via conference call at the conclusion of the first day of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft on Monday, June 3.
The A’s will send out conference call information Monday afternoon, along with news releases on selections made by the club.
The Athletics hold the 29th overall pick in the first round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft, the 66th overall pick in the second round, the 104th overall pick in the 3rd round, and will pick 27th in rounds 4-40 during the final two days of the Draft.
Players on the current roster selected by the A’s in the first two rounds of the draft include Matt Olson, 1st (47th) in 2012; Matt Chapman, 1st (25th) in 2014; Chad Pinder, 2nd in 2013; and Daniel Gossett, 2nd in 2014. Other first round picks on the current roster selected by other teams include Josh Phegley, 1st (38th) in 2009; Stephen Piscotty, 1st (36th) in 2012 by St. Louis; and Sean Manaea, 1st (34th) in 2013 by Kansas City.
Major League Baseball will hold day one of the 2019 MLB Draft on Monday, June 3, at MLB Network’s Studio 42 in Secaucus, New Jersey. This year’s Draft will begin live on MLB Network and MLB.com at 4:00 p.m. (PT). Prior to the start of the Draft, MLB Network will air a Draft preview show, also simulcast on MLB.com, at 3:00 p.m. (PT).
Each of the 30 Major League Clubs will be represented at the Draft by one of its former players and/or a member of its front office. The Oakland Athletics will be represented by Eric Byrnes, who played for the club from 2000-2005.
The Draft will resume at 10:00 a.m. (PT) on Tuesday, June 4, when selections will be made for rounds 3-10, with one-minute intervals between selections. Day three of the Draft on Wednesday, June 5, will begin at 9:00 a.m. (PT), featuring picks in rounds 11-40, with no time delay between selections.
