Grammy Award-winning artist Lil Jon and Latin Grammy Award-winning reggaeton star Don Omar will be joining fans at the 2017 All-Star Week, Major League Baseball announced today.
Lil Jon will headline MLB's first-ever Electric Run MLB All-Star 5K, presented by Nike, performing for participants in downtown Miami at the conclusion of the run on Saturday night, July 8. With the run slated to begin and end in Bayfront Park, Lil Jon will hit the stage around 9:45 p.m., once the majority of runners have completed the downtown course. Fans who want to participate in the Electric Run and attend Lil Jon's DJ set can register here. Widely known for chart-topping singles like "Turn Down for What" with DJ Snake and producing hits like Usher's "Yeah," Lil Jon will be a part of MLB All-Star Week festivities for the first time this year.
Don Omar will perform during the inaugural MLB All-Star Zumba® experience on Sunday, July 9, which is being led by Beto Perez, the man who started Zumba®. "El Rey" is scheduled to provide a portion of the soundtrack for participants in the 90-minute class, where fans will torch calories and rock to contagious and upbeat rhythms. In addition to Don Omar, star DJs and on-air personalities from Y100 and TU 94.9 will also enhance the Zumba® experience with the guy who started it all in Beto Perez. Fans can register here.
Since 2009, MLB has incorporated a charitable 5K race into many All-Star Week festivities leading into the All-Star Game. This year, the Electric Run MLB All-Star 5K will be the first evening edition of the event and it will take place throughout downtown Miami starting at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 8. Electric Run® is a concert-turned-dance party full of lights, music and surprises that ends with a festival beyond the finish line. In addition to the annual runs, last year MLB held the first-of-its-kind MLB All-Star Yoga to adopt a part of host city San Diego's culture. With the 2017 All-Star Game presented by Mastercard taking place in Miami, MLB is tapping into the local culture and holding the first-ever MLB All-Star Zumba® experience. Zumba® is the largest dance-fitness program in the world, with 15 million people taking classes on a weekly basis in 186 countries. Net proceeds of the Electric Run MLB All-Star 5K and MLB All-Star Zumba® benefit MLB Charities to support youth baseball and youth softball programming.
Additional sponsors of the Electric Run MLB All-Star 5K, presented by Nike, include 5-Hour ENERGY®, OxiCleanÔ, Nathan's Famous, T-Mobile and Gatorade. ARM & HAMMERÔ will be the supporting partner of MLB All-Star Zumba. Event details for the Electric Run and Zumba® are below:
