Cardinals activate outfielder Tyler O'Neill from injured list

Outfielder Lane Thomas optioned to Triple-A Memphis

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight’s series opener with Cincinnati, that they have activated outfielder Tyler O’Neill (right elbow ulnar nerve subluxation) from the 10-day Injured List and optioned outfielder Lane Thomas to Memphis (AAA).

O’Neill, who went on the I.L. on April 16, appeared in three games with Springfield (AA) during an injury rehabilitation assignment (April 23-25) and was 1-for-11 with a homer last night against Amarillo.  The right-handed hitting O’Neill was batting .286 (8-for-28) with a homer and four RBI in 14 games to begin the season with St. Louis.

Thomas, who homered for his first Major League hit last Friday (April 19), was 4-for-10 with 4 RBI (all as pinch hitter) in his seven games played with the Cardinals.
