ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Texas Rangers today announced that outfielder Carlos Tocci has been activated from the 10-day disabled list, effective for tonight's game at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
To make room for Tocci, INF Hanser Alberto has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Tocci was placed on the disabled list with a bruised left hip on April 22. After a period of working out in the extended spring program in Arizona, he was sent on rehab assignment on May 14 to Double-A Frisco, where he batted .318 (7-22) with one RBI in 7 games. Tocci was assigned to Round Rock on May 23 and hit .214 (6-28) with 3 RBI in 8 games, going 4-for-7 the last 2 nights for the Express. Overall, he had a .260 (13-50) average in the 15 games on rehab assignment.
Acquired from the Chicago White Sox after being selected from Philadelphia in the Major League Rule 5 Draft on December 14, 2017, Tocci is 2-for-25 in 11 games/8 starts in CF with the Rangers in 2018.
Alberto was 1-for-8 in 3 games/starts since being purchased form Round Rock on May 15.
In addition, outfielder Eliezer Alvarez, who was designated for assignment off the 40-man roster on May 29, has been assigned outright to Frisco. The Rangers' major league roster remains at the 40-man limit.
