The Chicago White Sox have announced a partnership with Rush University Medical Center to offer fans a limited edition White Sox cap that will feature the team's logo and a multi-colored ribbon representing the various cancer awareness colors.
Beginning on Wednesday, July 26, the cap will be available for purchase for $29.99 only at Guaranteed Rate Field while supplies last. From each purchase, $10 will be donated to cancer research and treatment initiatives at Chicago White Sox Charities and Rush University Children's Hospital.
The multiple colors on the ribbon represent awareness initiatives for the following: navy blue for colon cancer, pink for breast cancer, light blue for prostate cancer, purple for pancreatic cancer, black for skin cancer, teal for ovarian cancer, gold for pediatric cancer, white for lung cancer, orange for leukemia, lymphoma and kidney cancer as well as red for general cancer awareness.
"We are proud to join forces with one of the leading hospitals in the country, Rush University Medical Center, in the fight against a disease that unfortunately has had an impact on so many people," said Christine O'Reilly, Chicago White Sox Charities executive director. "The White Sox cap is a wonderful way for fans to cheer on the White Sox, while also support important research and treatment."
"Rush is excited to work with the White Sox on this initiative to raise funds for pediatric cancer research," said Nik Verma, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Rush and head team physician for the White Sox. "The cap program is such a great fit for both organizations and our combined mission to support the health of our community."
The White Sox caps will be available at most locations throughout the ballpark, including the Chicago Sports Depot at Gate 5. For more information, please call 312-674-5335.
