Colorado Rockies recall infielder Josh Fuentes from Triple-A Albuquerque

Infielder Ryan McMahon placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering left elbow sprain

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled infielder Josh Fuentes from Triple-A Albuquerque and have placed infielder Ryan McMahon on the 10-day injured list with a left elbow sprain.

Fuentes, 26, will be appearing on the Major League active roster for the first time in his career … is 3-for-7 (.429) with two doubles and one home run across Albuquerque’s first two games of the season … was named the Pacific Coast League Rookie of the Year and MVP following the 2018 season after batting .327 (180-for-551) with 93 runs, 39 doubles, 12 triples, 14 home runs, 95 RBI, 21 walks and three stolen bases across 135 games for the Isotopes … in his Minor League career, has batted .300 (552-for-1843) with 269 runs, 129 doubles, 24 triples, 50 home runs, 292 RBI, 108 walks and 27 stolen bases … has made 330 career starts at third base, 119 at first base, three at shortstop, and one at second base … the Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., native was originally signed by the Rockies as a non-drafted free agent on June 11, 2014 … he will wear #8.

McMahon, 24, suffered a left elbow sprain in yesterday’s game vs. Los Angeles-NL on a defensive play at first base … has gone 5-for-25 (.200) with three runs scored, two doubles, one RBI and four walks over his first seven games this season … across parts of three seasons since his Major League debut on Aug. 12, 2017 at Miami, the Yorba Linda, Calif., native has batted .222 (50-for-225) with 22 runs, one triple, five home runs, 21 RBI, 27 walks and one stolen base in 115 games for the Rockies … won the Abby Greer Award for the Rockies’ Spring Training MVP this year after batting .424 (25-for-59) with 11 runs, nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, 14 RBI and five walks in 24 Spring games.

The Rockies currently have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
