Rockies select contract of OF Mike Tauchman from Triple-A

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Mike Tauchman from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned right-handed pitcher Jairo Díaz to Triple-A. It will be Tauchman's first appearance on the Major League roster. Additionally, the Rockies have transferred outfielder David Dahl to the 60-day disabled list (stress reaction in rib cage).

SAN FRANCISCO - The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Mike Tauchman from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned right-handed pitcher Jairo Díaz to Triple-A. It will be Tauchman's first appearance on the Major League roster. Additionally, the Rockies have transferred outfielder David Dahl to the 60-day disabled list (stress reaction in rib cage).
Tauchman, 26, will be making his first appearance on the Major League roster … has played in 70 games for Triple-A Albuquerque this season and has batted .313 (81-for-259) with 50 runs, 14 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs, 55 RBI, 27 walks and 11 stolen bases … in his Minor League career, is batting .295 (501-for-1,699) with 86 doubles, 26 triples, 18 home runs, 194 RBI, 180 walks and 94 stolen bases in 454 games across four levels of play … received his second invite to Major League Spring Training in 2017, and batted .179 (5-for-28) with two runs, two doubles, three RBI, two stolen bases, four walks and six strikeouts … was originally selected out of Bradley University (Peoria, Ill.) by Colorado in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft … he will wear uniform #3.
Díaz, 26, made his first appearance for the Rockies since Oct. 3, 2015 last night after being recalled from Triple-A prior to the game … he allowed three runs (two earned) with two strikeouts over one inning of work … missed the entire 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery … began the 2017 season on the 10-day disabled list prior to being reinstated and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on April 29 … in 10 appearances between High-A Lancaster and Albuquerque, has gone 0-1 with a 4.66 ERA (9.2 IP, 5 ER), two walks and 12 strikeouts … was acquired by Colorado from Los Angeles-AL in exchange for Josh Rutledge on Dec. 10, 2014. 
Dahl, 23, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Opening Day with a stress reaction in his rib cage … made his Major League debut in Baltimore on July 25 of last season and batted .315 (70-for-222) with 42 runs, 12 doubles, four triples, seven home runs, 24 RBI, 15 walks and five stolen bases in 63 games in 2016 … began his career with a 17-game hitting streak, which tied the Major League record for the longest hitting streak to begin a career (also: Cincinnati's Chuck Aleno in 1941).
