Cubs reduce spring roster to 31 players

The Chicago Cubs today assigned five players to minor league camp, reducing their spring roster from 36 to 31 players.

MESA - The Chicago Cubs today assigned five players to minor league camp, reducing their spring roster from 36 to 31 players.
Right-handed pitcher Eddie Butler and left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny have been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
Three non-roster invitees have been assigned to minor league camp: infielder Ian Happ, outfielder John Andreoli and catcher Taylor Davis.
Chicago's spring roster of 31 players consists of 14 pitchers, four catchers (one non-roster invitee), nine infielders (three non-roster invitees) and four outfielders.
