D-backs recall Jimmie Sherfy from Triple-A Reno, optioned Jon Duplantier to Reno following yesterday's game

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Jimmie Sherfy from Triple-A Reno. Following yesterday’s game, the D-backs optioned RHP Jon Duplantier to Reno.

Sherfy, 27, has made 13 appearances for the Aces this season, going 0-1 with 7 saves, a 1.32 ERA (2 ER in 13.2 IP), .216 opponent average and 21 strikeouts. He leads the Pacific Coast League in saves, and is tied for the league lead in games finished (11). He has posted 10 consecutive scoreless outings (10.1 IP) since April 14, holding the opposition to a .143 average (5-for-35) with just 1 extra-base hit and 14 strikeouts.

This will mark Sherfy’s second stint with Arizona this season, having been recalled for the game on April 21 @ Cubs, but did not make an appearance. Overall, he has held opponents scoreless in 24 of 26 career outings over parts of 3 seasons with the D-backs (2017-19), posting a 1.00 ERA (3 ER in 27.0 IP), .144 opponent average and 26 strikeouts.

Duplantier, 24, threw 3.0 innings in yesterday’s game vs. Braves, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts. In 5 games for the D-backs this season, he has gone 1-0 with 1 save, a 2.25 ERA (3 ER in 12.0 IP), 12 strikeouts and 5 walks.
