The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for minor league catcher Thayron Liranzo and infielder Trey Sweeney.

Flaherty, 28, went 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA in his first season with the Detroit Tigers. He made 18 starts for the American League Central squad, striking out 133 batters with a 0.96 WHIP and .211 batting average against. In 2019, he had his best season in the Majors, going 11-8 with a 2.75 ERA in 33 starts for the Cardinals. He has been in the Majors parts of eight seasons with St. Louis (2017-23), Baltimore (2023) and Detroit (2024), going 49-39 with a 3.64 ERA in 149 games (143 starts). The Southern California native was drafted in the first round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of Harvard-Westlake High School by the Cardinals.

Liranzo, 21, was hitting .220 with seven homers and 30 RBI in 74 games with High-A Great Lakes. He has been in the Dodger organization four seasons, hitting .247 with 40 homers and 139 RBI. The backstop was signed by Los Angeles on January 15, 2021 as an international free agent out of San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic.

Sweeney, 24, was hitting .254 with 13 homers and 62 RBI in 96 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was acquired from the New York Yankees in the offseason in exchange for Victor González and Jorbit Vivas. In four minor league seasons, he slashed .250/.353/.428 with 49 homers and 181 RBI in 339 games. He was drafted in the first round (20^th overall) of the 2021 First Year Player Draft out of Eastern Illinois University.
