LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have reinstated catcher Dalton Rushing from the injured list and optioned infielder Alex Freeland.
Rushing, 25, has been out since September 5 with right elbow discomfort. He has appeared in a career-high 78 games this season, hitting .249 with 12 homers and 36 RBI. He is in his second season with the Dodgers, playing in 131 games, batting .231 with 16 homers and 60 RBI. The backstop has been in the organization since being drafted in the second round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Louisville. In 268 minor league games, he batted .278 with 54 homers and 187 RBI.
Freeland, 25, played in 89 games, slashing .234/.327/.325 with four homers and 21 RBI with the Dodgers. He debuted in 2025, notching two homers with six RBI in 29 games. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida and has compiled a .257 batting average with an .799 OPS and 51 homers in 395 minor league games.
