Dodgers recall catcher Will Smith

Catcher Austin Barnes optioned to Triple-A

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced that they have recalled catcher Will Smith and optioned catcher Austin Barnes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Smith, 24, returns for his third stint with the club. The former Louisville Cardinal has played in nine games, batting .269 (7-for-26) with three homers and six RBI for the Dodgers. In 61 games with Oklahoma City, he slashed .269/.381/.605 with 20 homers and 54 RBI. In four Minor League seasons, he has amassed 55 homers and 180 RBI in 287 games. 

Barnes, 29, appeared in 70 games for the Dodgers, batting .196 (40-for-204) with 10 doubles, five homers and 23 RBI. The backstop is in his fifth season with Los Angeles, hitting a combined .227 (155-for-683) with 17 homers and 83 RBI.
