LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated outfielder Joc Pederson from the 15-day disabled list, recalled left-handed pitcher Luis Avilan from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed both right-handed pitcher Casey Fien (retroactive to July 17) and left-handed pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu (retroactive to July 9) on the 15-day disabled list with elbow tendonitis.
Pederson, 24, missed 15 games due to a sprained right AC joint after colliding with the outfield wall on June 28 at Milwaukee. The Venezuela native is averaging better than a strikeout per inning with Triple-A OKC this year, striking out 30 in 28.0 innings, while posting an 0-3 record with four saves and a 4.82 ERA in 27 games.
