Dodgers Select Wyatt Mills

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Wyatt Mills and optioned right-handed pitcher Paul Gervase. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-handed pitcher Edwin Díaz to the 60-day injured list.

Mills, 31, appeared in 14 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, going 3-2 with a 3.26 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 19.1 innings. He has two Major League stints with Seattle (2021-22) and Kansas City (2022), posting an 0-1 record with a 6.21 ERA in 38 games. He has pitched in 201 minor league games (eight starts), recording a 24-13 record with a 3.22 ERA in 259.2 innings. He has posted a 1.10 WHIP with 322 strikeouts in his minor league career. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the third round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft by the Seattle Mariners out of the University of Gonzaga.

Gervase, 25, went three innings last night, allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts in the Dodger loss. He has appeared in seven Major League games in his career, posting a 3.97 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 11.1 innings. In five minor league seasons, he is 15-9 with a 3.21 ERA and 285 strikeouts in 185.1 innings. The 6-foot, 10-inch hurler was drafted by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University.
