The Atlanta Braves, along with outfielder, Ender Inciarte, second baseman, Brandon Phillips and Major League Baseball Players Association have unveiled new t-shirts they have designed with Muideen Ogunmola from '47 that will go on sale today at all Braves Clubhouse store locations and online at www.braves.com/playertees. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Atlanta Braves Foundation.
The players met with Ogunmola and talked about their favorite things and things that were important to them. They selected the color of the tee, and hand-picked the items to be included in the design and after some preliminary sketches, the players gave additional input.
"We thought these t-shirts would be a great way for our players to show their creative side by designing a shirt that represented them and something our fans would love to wear," said Derek Schiller, Braves president, business. "Who knows, we may find the next top designer coming out of the Majors!"
The t-shirt designed by Inciarte features his two favorite moments with the Braves. The first image captures the moment he crossed home plate following hitting the first homerun at SunTrust Park. The second image is of Inciarte making a diving catch against the Nationals and then throwing Bryce Harper out at first base.
The colors and the stars on the t-shirt are inspired from the Venezuelan flag, his home country, while the cake on the sleeve represents a special memory of Inciarte's father, who passed away several years ago. Inside the cake is a soccer ball and the number 11, which represent his love of soccer and his uniform number.
Brandon Phillips t-shirt features the special milestones that led him to the Braves - a '96 Olympic bat boy, Redan High School and his hometown, Stone Mountain as well as his signature pose.
Also, featured are nods to two of his favorite movies, The Lion King and Coming to America. A lion and rock formation are a call out to The Lion King while the flag of Zamunda, a necklace and a crown are an ode to Coming to America.
The t-shirts are available now for $45 at The Clubhouse Store at SunTrust Park, CNN Center and online at www.braves.com/playertees.
