Astros corporate partner Energy Transfer Partners announced the launch of a new philanthropic initiative to benefit the Astros Foundation for the 2018 season. Every time an Astros home run hits the Energy Transfer outfield sign in left-center field, the organization will donate $5,000 to the Astros Foundation. The Astros have already recorded one such home run this season, courtesy of Astros designated hitter Evan Gattis on June 1 vs. the Boston Red Sox.
"The Astros Foundation is fortunate to have generous corporate partners such as Energy Transfer to help us make a greater impact in the Houston community," said Astros Foundation Executive Director Twila Carter. "We hope to see many Astros home runs hitting that outfield sign in 2018."
"We believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work." said Matt Ramsey, President and Chief Operating Officer of Energy Transfer Partners. "The mission of the Astros Foundation aligns with our partnership's community investment guidelines of enriching youth, supporting our military and enhancing health services programs. Giving a donation to the Astros Foundation each time an Astros home run hits our sign in Minute Made Park is a fun way to engage the players, the community and our employees."
